Residential Dementia Care

When it's time to move into full time care...

It's natural to want to live in your own home for as long as possible. No one wants 'to be put in a care home'. However, for someone who is living with dementia, the strive for continued independence can actually lead to isolation, loneliness and confusion as their old familiar home just doesn't make sense anymore.

If your loved one has reached the stage where it's no longer practical or manageable to live at home, we'd like to offer you the perfect solution.

This is the best decision you can make

Far from being a negative step, becoming a resident at Cavendish Care Home may prove to be the best decision you've ever made. In fact, the most common comment we have from residents and families after they've moved in is "I wish we'd done it so much sooner".

You'll find your loved one is likely to blossom here. Freed from the many challenges of daily living at home, they'll be able to make new friends, join in a variety of activities and enjoy life to the full again.

All the staff have been brilliant

Jeff R Son of Resident

All the staff have been brilliant. They have made a huge difference to my dads quality of life and in the process helped my dads family. My dad moved from a different care home. A mistake on our part as it has turned out, thank goodness we found the Cavendish Care Home.

More good reasons for choosing  Cavendish Care Home

Here are some more reasons why we believe Cavendish Care Home will provide the ideal environment for your loved one to re-discover joy in life and really get the best from their later years.

Cavendish is a specialist dementia home

We specialize in caring for people who have dementia and this has enabled our staff to build up tremendous practical knowledge of how to provide the very best dementia care. Whatever the type of behaviour, we will have experienced it before and know how to deal with it in the best possible way.

The home has a real community feel

Cavendish's 24 bed size means that all the staff know all the residents and all the residents know each other. There’s a genuine community feel to the place and this really helps our residents to enjoy life more, especially if they’ve previously lived alone for a number of years and have been unable to get out much.

It can be quite a revelation and we often see people really come alive again with their new found purpose for living.

Excellent care from all the staff, very caring and understanding

Ellen D Daughter of Resident

Excellent care from all the staff, very caring and understanding. Mum's personality has changed considerably since coming to Cavendish in a good way, she socializes very well which she didn't do before. By far the best care home I've come across in Gloucester.

Stable and long serving staff team

Your loved one needs to know, like and trust our staff members completely if they are to feel comfortable in letting them care for them - and so do we.

Unlike many care homes in the area our staff turnover is very low. Our team is strong and stable with the majority of staff members being at Cavendish for many years.

What this means for you and your loved one is that they will be looked after by a highly skilled, highly trained, expert team who have vast experience of caring for the needs of those in their later years. More importantly perhaps is that they'll become trusted friends and companions that your loved one will be comfortable with when dealing with the more sensitive aspects of personal care.

This is truly important and often over looked in larger homes where there is often a regular turnover of staff and high pressure to recruit and fill a large workforce.

Cavendish has been rated as 'Good' by the CQC
